Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze individual slices.
