A traditional Italian lasagna layered with rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and mozzarella cheese.

- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups béchamel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground beef and sausage; cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, then a layer of noodles, followed by ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and béchamel. Repeat layers.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, omit the meat and add more vegetables like spinach and zucchini.
