Description
A delightful Sugar Raspberry Danish Bun recipe perfect for sweet mornings and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 cup milk (warmed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup raspberry jam
- 1 cup custard (made from milk, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, cornstarch)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt thoroughly. Gradually add warmed milk and melted butter, mixing until everything is combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth for about 8-10 minutes, then let it proof in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
- In a saucepan, cook milk, sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
- Roll the dough into a rectangular shape, then cut it into squares. Place a spoonful of cooled custard and a dollop of raspberry jam in the center of each square.
- Fold over opposite corners of the dough to create a bun shape, ensuring the filling is well enclosed.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- Optional: Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
- You can use any fruit jam as a filling if desired.
- Store leftover buns in an airtight container.
