  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Cold Butter (shredded)
  • 1 cup Sourdough Starter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • as needed cup Cold Water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  3. Melt the butter until completely liquid and let it cool slightly.
  4. Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
  5. Shred the cold butter and add it to the dry ingredients, mixing until it resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  6. Add the sourdough starter and vanilla extract, then combine to form a dough, adding cold water if needed.
  7. Divide the dough in half and roll out each half on parchment paper to about 1/8-inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into 1/2-inch squares and transfer to a baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crunchy, then cool before serving.
