- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon table salt
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C), or 160°C if using a fan oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and salt for about 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and pale.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
- Fit a piping bag with an open star or round tip, fill it with dough, and pipe onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until puffed and the surface is dry.
- Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
