Description

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C), or 160°C if using a fan oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and salt for about 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and pale.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the flour and mix until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
  5. Fit a piping bag with an open star or round tip, fill it with dough, and pipe onto the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes until puffed and the surface is dry.
  7. Cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
