Description

This homemade pumpkin spice coffee syrup is a cozy fall favorite made with real pumpkin purée, warm spices, and natural sweeteners. Perfect for lattes, cold brews, or even drizzling over pancakes, it’s healthier than store-bought versions and comes together in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey (or 1/3 cup brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick during simmering

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a saucepan, whisk together pumpkin purée, water, maple syrup, spices, and salt over medium heat.
  2. Simmer: Bring to a gentle simmer for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.
  3. Add Vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Strain (Optional): Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother syrup.
  5. Store: Transfer to a clean jar or bottle. Refrigerate up to 2 weeks and shake before use.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup or raw honey for a healthier option.
  • Adjust spices and sweetness to taste.
  • Do not overcook—the syrup thickens as it cools.
  • Strain for a smooth texture if preferred.
  • Freeze in ice cube trays for long-term storage.
