Description

This Pecan Pie Dump Cake is a sweet, buttery dessert with a gooey pecan filling and a golden topping. It tastes like traditional pecan pie but is much easier to make, perfect for feeding a crowd during holidays or any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Dark Corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups pecan halves
  • 13.25 oz Butter Pecan Cake Mix
  • 1/3 cup Brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 3/4 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Hot Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9×13 inch baking pan with non-stick spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup brown sugar, dark corn syrup, 1/2 cup melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Fold in the pecan halves and spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Spread the dry butter pecan cake mix evenly over the pecan mixture.
  5. Sprinkle 1/3 cup brown sugar evenly over the cake mix, followed by the 3/4 cup chopped pecans.
  6. Pour the 3/4 cup melted butter evenly over the top.
  7. Pour 1 cup hot water evenly over the entire mixture. Do not mix.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Allow the Pecan Pie Dump Cake to cool. It can be served warm or cooled.

Notes

  • A yellow cake mix can be substituted for the butter pecan cake mix.
  • Dark corn syrup provides a deeper, caramelized flavor similar to traditional pecan pie.
  • Margarine is not recommended as a substitute for butter in this recipe.
  • Store leftovers tightly covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
  • To reheat a larger portion in the oven, warm at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for 10-15 minutes.
