Description

Orleans Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups day-old French bread, cubed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup raisins or other dried fruits (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Place the cubed French bread in a large mixing bowl. If you’re using dried fruits, sprinkle them over the bread cubes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Gently fold to combine, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture, folding gently to incorporate.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
  9. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir until the mixture is smooth and begins to bubble.
  10. Remove from heat and stir in the bourbon and vanilla extract. Allow it to cool slightly before serving.
