Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parsley, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  5. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce. Place 3 noodles on top, then spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  6. Spoon half of the meat mixture over the cheese layer, followed by 1 cup of marinara sauce and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella.
  7. Repeat the layering process, finishing with noodles topped with marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  9. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow the lasagna to cool for 15 minutes before slicing. This helps the layers set for easier serving.
