Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 box Chocolate Pudding
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 8 oz Cool Whip (or Whipped Topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix the ricotta cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth, then incorporate the eggs until creamy.
  3. Prepare the chocolate cake mix with canola oil, water, and eggs; whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate batter into the greased baking dish, then layer the ricotta mixture on top.
  5. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the center jiggles slightly.
  6. Cool the cake to room temperature before adding the frosting.
  7. Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package instructions and fold in Cool Whip.
  8. Spread the chocolate pudding frosting over the cooled cake and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
