Description

A cozy and adaptable guide to making irresistible individual apple crumbles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 12 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp melted butter
  • Optional: 1/2 cup rolled oats or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and arrange eight 6-ounce ramekins on a baking sheet.
  2. Toss apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch until coated.
  3. Spoon apple mixture into ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle in melted butter to form crumbs.
  5. Scatter the crumble topping over the apples and bake for 32–36 minutes until golden.
  6. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, swap half of the butter for coconut oil. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3–4 days.
