- 1 cup grated cheese (such as cheddar or Gruyère)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they become translucent and soft, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in the salt, pepper, and thyme, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the heavy cream and vegetable broth until well combined.
- In a baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture on the bottom. Add the sautéed onions, spreading them evenly.
- Pour the remaining cream mixture over the onions, ensuring they are well coated.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the onions.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
