Description

This Christmas Morning Chai Latte is a festive and heartwarming drink. It combines warm spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom with black tea and creamy milk. It’s topped with a chai-spiced whipped cream for an indulgent holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Chai Spice Mix:
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • For the Chai Latte:
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 black tea bag (or 1 teaspoon black tea leaves)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Chai Spice Mix
  • For the Chai-Spiced Whipped Cream:
  • 1 cup chilled heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Chai Spice Mix
  • Maple syrup to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the Chai Spice Mix: Combine coconut sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper in a bowl. Whisk until fully combined. Store in an airtight container.
  2. Heat milk and water: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of whole milk and 1 cup of water to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Steep the tea: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the black tea bag (or tea leaves) and 1 1/2 tablespoons of the chai spice mix. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain and pour: If you used loose leaf tea, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into your mug. If you used a tea bag, simply remove and discard it. Pour the steeped tea blend into your favorite festive mug.
  5. Prepare whipped cream: While the tea is steeping, make the chai-spiced whipped cream. In a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, combine 1 cup of chilled heavy cream with 2 tablespoons of the prepared chai spice mix and maple syrup to taste. Beat on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  6. Assemble: Top each latte with a generous scoop of the chai-spiced whipped cream and finish with a light dusting of cinnamon for extra flair.

Notes

  • Use fresh, aromatic spices for the best chai flavor.
  • Try oat or almond milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Watch the milk carefully to avoid boiling over.
  • Store extra chai spice mix in a sealed jar for up to 3 months.
  • Add a splash of vanilla extract or crushed candy cane for a fun twist.
