Description

Candied Orange Slices are glossy, sweet, and zesty citrus rounds simmered in sugar syrup until perfectly translucent. These chewy, jewel-like treats are perfect for garnishing desserts, gifting, or enjoying as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 medium oranges, thinly sliced (about ¼-inch thick)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • Additional granulated sugar, for rolling (optional)
  • Parchment paper or wire rack, for drying

Instructions

  1. Scrub oranges under warm water and slice into ¼-inch thick rounds. Remove any seeds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble.
  3. Reduce heat to low. Add orange slices in a single layer and simmer for 40–60 minutes, flipping occasionally, until translucent.
  4. Transfer slices to a wire rack or parchment-lined sheet. Let dry for 12–24 hours or until no longer sticky.
  5. Roll slices in granulated sugar once dry for extra sparkle.
  6. Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or refrigerate up to 1 month.

Notes

  • Use fresh oranges for the best flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
